PROTOTYP-VHM thread miller with a new technology

PROTOTYP-VHM thread miller with a new technology for maximum process reliability

WALTER is expanding its PROTOTYP thread-milling programme. For the smaller thread sizes from M2 to M8 and thread depths to 3 x D, there is now a new generation of VHM tools on the market. These tools are made from very tough and low-wear solid carbide. New is above all the working principle whereby because of a short cutting section of only three thread turns, the thread is milled in special helical curve. "For us, the new thread millers are not just an expansion to the programme but more a technology expansion as well", explains Dr. Roland Heiler, product manager at WALTER. The new working principle also means that the acting radial forces are reduced considerably. The process reliability increases, especially for small-size threads M2 to M3 as well as for threads in pocket holes. Trouble-free use is also ensured by the large shaft diameter to minimise the vibrations even for long projection lengths. The cutting edge geometry is highly positive and this lowers the machining forces considerably.
