Spindle position systems for packaging machines

© Exportpages.com

The common event on packaging machines is alignment of format, end positions or guiding facilities with the respective product process by means of adjustable shafts. A common low-cost solution are manual spindle positioning operations by hand wheels, cranks, adjusting buttons, etc. However, with short production cycles or frequent product changes this principle will soon be at the limits of profitability. Format alignments take a lot of time, are susceptible to editing errors and are a real obstacle in exploiting full performance and efficiency of packaging machines. Inferior lots and an a more and more product-specific packaging call for new control concepts and components for easier, quicker and cheaper machine set-up. The degree of automation in format alignment at packaging machines is fully determined by the price/performance ratio. Fully networked drives for example will only refund if shafts, spindles or end positions are aligned very often. In many other cases no doubt at least an electronic support of manual positioning operations is recommendable to avoid fussy machine editing by help of lists susceptible to errors.
